The LakePalace is located on the Jag Niwas Island and covers the whole of 1.5 hectare of the island in the middle of the Pichola Lake. Built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1743 it was meant as a royal summer palace and now converted in to a five star palace hotel. It is a magical palace and its image in the middle of the lake is like a leaf straight out of a fairy tale book with an excellent taste of intricate craftsmanship and the ethnic themes using the textiles and handicrafts all over highlight the beauty that is simply beyond compare the lake around makes a pleasant murmur with its rippling waves and lapping that adds to the mesmerising moments. Bada Mahal, the garden palace, is built on a 90 feet high natural rock formation. The Chini chitrashala houses a rich collection of Chinese porcelain and Laxmi Vilas Chowk is an art gallery, which houses a distinctive collection of Mewar paintings. The Amar Vilas, the highest point with its hanging gardens, towers and terraces, presents a majestic and panoramic view of the town and Lake Pichola.

The Lake palace was built in the 17th century on a natural foundation of 4 acers of rock. It was initially called Jaginwas after its founder Maharana Jagjit Singh.

Devi Garh Fort Palace

Devi Garh Fort Palace is situated in the Aravalli hills. The principality of Devi Garh was awarded to Sajja Singh by Maharana Pratap in recognition of his loyalty and bravery to Maharana during the battle of Haldi Ghati in 1576. The fort was constructed in the 1760s under Raghudev Singh II. The rulers followed Raghudev Sigh further added new structures to the fort palace. Today Devi Garh Fort Palace is a fine hotel resort that comprises 30 suites and 8 tents. The hotel is well furnished and a lot of emphasis has been laid on the design and detail. The use of local marbles and semi-precious stones is clearly visible in the palace.

Location

Devi Garh is located 28 km north east of Udaipur and is just 45 minutes drive from the city. Overlooking the village of Delwara, the fort is surrounded by lush green fields and mountains on three sides. The hotel is located close to the temples of Eklingji and Nagda. The landscape of Devi Garh is dotted with traditional Rajasthani village, the towering fort and the temples, which present an interesting mix.

Today, after years of restoration and reconstruction, Devi Garh has regained its past glory. An imposing and impressive structure, it is now a unique all-suite boutique hotel, with 23 suites and 6 tents. Sajja Singh, who hailed from the neighbouring state of Gujarat, was awarded this strategically significant principality, in recognition of his bravery and loyalty to Maharana Pratap against the Mughal emperor Akbar, at the battle of Haldighati (1576). The actual construction of the fort palace started only in the 1760s, under Raghudev Singh II, with further additions being made to the structure by the rulers who followed. The palace was absorbed into the state of Rajasthan in the 1960s and was subsequently abandoned.
