Location: Most of the sand dunes are located near Jaisalmer. Famous among the sand dunes are Sam and Khuri located at 40 km from Jaisalmer on different sides. Sam Sand Dunes is the most popular excursion to see the total sandy bush less desert. Khuri is known for its camel rides, sand dunes that are about 80 metres high and exceptionally beautiful sunset. Other sand dune areas are Ludharwa, Kanoi and Kuldhara villages.
Best Season: The best season to visit sand dunes and for desert safari in Rajasthan is during October to February.
How to Reach: Most of the sand dunes sites are situated near Jaisalmer. The nearest airport is the Jodhpur airport, 285 Km from Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer railway station is connected to the main cities of Rajasthan. The roadways network of Rajasthan ensures good connectivity of Jaisalmer to the major cities of India.
